I really enjoyed this book. The stories of how the bodies were recovered and shown was very interesting. Sadly, Pompeii itself is slowing disintigrating as air pollution and the elements wear out the structures, decoration, and sculptures. It is sad that the Italian government is leeting this treasure slip away. A great book for all ages.

I enjoyed reading about the history and excavations of Pompeii. I did not realized that the cities were destroyed by a series of eruptions. I thought it was one large volcanic blast that took them out. It was sad to read about horrific deaths of the men, women, and children who tried to escape or were trapped.

Very interesting history of Pompeii and the eruption of Vesuvius. It made me appreciate all the technological innovations that help us prepare for this time of natural disaster. This volcano had never erupted that anyone of that time period knew, so they had no idea of what was about to happen. The story of the excavations was also interesting.
